Pia Mater

Pia mater is the innermost layer of the meninges, clinging tightly to the brain with all the sulcus and fissure.  It is composed of a thin layer of simple squamous epithelial cell and areolar tissue.  It is further invested with blood capillaries that nourish the brain.
